One API call
curl https://api.mostlyrender.com/v1/renders \
-H "Authorization: Bearer mr_test_YOUR_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"templateId":"tpl_certificate","modifications":{"name":"Avery Mendoza","course":"Advanced Rendering","date":"14 October 2026"}}'Questions
Can I render certificates as PDF?
Yes — every template renders to PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Certificates usually go out as PDF, which is vector and print-ready; a PNG of the same template works well for sharing on social profiles.
Is there a per-certificate fee?
No. Each certificate is one render on your plan — 2,000 a month are included on Starter at $19 — with a published overage rate past that. There is no per-document or per-seat charge.
How do I issue a certificate automatically when someone finishes a course?
Call POST /v1/renders from your completion hook with the recipient’s name, course and date as modifications, and you get back a URL to the PDF. An n8n workflow, or any automation tool that can send an HTTP request, can do the same from your LMS or form tool.
Can I issue hundreds of certificates at once?
Yes. The batch endpoint renders up to 50 per request with each item metered separately, and a failure on one item never aborts the rest. For large runs, render asynchronously and receive a signed webhook when each job is done.
Can a certificate include a verification QR code?
Yes. Templates support QR layers: pass the verification URL as that layer’s modification and each certificate gets its own code. Pair it with MostlyQR if you want the code to be editable and scan-tracked.
How long are rendered certificates stored?
Rendered files are kept for 30 days on the Free plan and 90 days on paid plans, then deleted. If learners need permanent access, copy the file to your own storage or re-render it on demand from the same template.
Can I use my own design and fonts?
Yes — lay out your branded background, seal and text in the editor; every named layer becomes a field you can fill per recipient, and layers you don’t mention keep their designed defaults.
